Breakouts do not respect age. That is an extremely frustrating fact that so many of us over 35 know – myself included.
I turned 46 years old in December, and I still am very careful to avoid comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients. One of the primary reasons I began crafting skin care products and created VERTERE to bring them to you was because of the rampant use of pore-clogging ingredients in products that were designed for breakout-prone skin (yes, you read that correctly) and aging skin.
Breakouts continue to be on the rise well after the teenage years. If this applies to you, there are a couple of ingredients to avoid in the skin care products and color cosmetic products you apply to your face.
Isopropyl myristate and isopropyl palmitate are used as thickening agents and emollients in cosmetic products. For those who have never experienced clogged pores or blemishes, they can use products containing these ingredients without concern. However, for those battling blemishes, avoid these ingredients in products applied to the face.
These ingredients can be used in facial cleansers, moisturizers, eye creams and treatments as well as makeup primers, foundations, concealers and blushes. Taking care to toss products containing these ingredients will help your skin look clearer and reduce blemishes.
I specifically create each VERTERE product to be noncomedogenic so that it will not clog pores while still providing luxurious textures that feel decadent and fight the look of wrinkles, dark spots and imperfections at the same time. As we age, our skin can be temperamental for many reasons which is why paying attention to these ingredient details are important.
Perfecting your skin is my passion!
